MC Kats Apologizes to Sheebah Karungi for Doubting Her Early Career

By BigEyeUg Team

Media personality and emcee MC Kats has publicly apologized to singer Sheebah Karungi, admitting that he failed to believe in her potential during the early days of her music career.

Speaking during an interview with Dr. Mich on a YouTube podcast, Kats reflected on some of the mistakes he made at the height of his emceeing career, including discouraging opportunities for upcoming artists.

Kats recalled the period when music manager Jeff Kiwa had just signed Sheebah. At the time, he was working closely with Jeff on public relations, handling newspaper publicity and social media promotion. However, he confessed that he advised Jeff against signing the singer, describing it as “the worst mistake” he could make in the music industry.

According to Kats, his opinion was influenced by Jeff’s previous success managing established acts such as Jose Chameleone and the late duo Radio & Weasel. He believed taking on Sheebah at the time was a step down compared to working with those already successful artists, making him underestimate what she could eventually achieve.

Kats revealed that Sheebah was seated in the back of Jeff’s car when he made the remarks, adding that he does not know whether she ever forgave him. He also disclosed that they are no longer in contact but said that if given the opportunity today, he would apologize personally.

I’m sorry I didn’t believe in you. I didn’t believe you could compete with Radio & Weasel,” he said, acknowledging that Sheebah went on to prove her critics wrong and establish herself as one of Uganda’s most successful female musicians.
