Swangz Avenue singer Azawi has publicly praised Eddy Kenzo for his resilience and courage, especially in the face of criticism and industry disagreements.

Speaking candidly, Azawi acknowledged that while she and Kenzo do not always see eye to eye on certain matters, their differences have never turned into personal animosity. According to her, disagreement is a natural part of growth, particularly in a dynamic industry like music.
“Eddy and I have things we agree on and those we don’t; it is okay,” she shared. “If we meet, we respect that and cannot always be on the same page, but it doesn’t take away the fact that he played a part in my journey as an artist.”
Azawi credited Kenzo for contributing to her growth, noting that his influence remains significant regardless of their occasional clashes. She emphasized that even when she disagrees with him, she does not dismiss the role he has played in shaping her career.
The “Repeat It” hitmaker also revealed that she has not shied away from criticizing Kenzo when necessary, highlighting the honesty in their professional relationship. However, she was quick to commend his ability to endure criticism and remain focused on pushing the industry forward.
“He is not perfect, but I appreciate him in a certain way,” she said. “Even when we disagree, I will always tell him.”
Azawi further applauded Kenzo for his role in advocating for artists’ rights, particularly his contribution toward the progress of copyright discussions in Uganda’s music industry. She described him as brave, noting that he took bold steps that many artists were hesitant to take.
“He has still stood the test of time to the level that we are achieving copyright. He was brave and did what other artists were afraid to do. It wasn’t easy,” she added.
