Justine Nameere has fired back at media personality Faridah Nakazibwe, dismissing claims that she does not follow through with defamation lawsuits and insisting that the former television news anchor was only spared because broadcaster Andrew Kyamagero intervened.
The exchange stems from comments Nakazibwe made on X, where she alleged that Nameere had sued her for defamation in 2019 but failed to attend mediation sessions and court proceedings. Nakazibwe further claimed that the minister later withdrew the case despite publicly suggesting she had emerged victorious.
Responding to the allegations, Nameere said she intentionally abandoned the lawsuit after Kyamagero stepped in to mediate the matter. According to her, the case was close to being decided in her favor because Nakazibwe had no defense before she admitted she was wrong. Nameere said Kyamagero’s intervention prompted her to forgive Nakazibwe and drop the case instead of pursuing a court judgment.
“I don’t want to go back into issues with that woman because she has been managed by karma already. I do not need to hit her again. Karma has managed her, men have taken her to the depths of hell. She has been lied to about everything, therefore I see no sense in adding to that,” Nameere said.
She also rejected claims that she cannot sustain legal battles, citing another defamation case involving a man who accused her of refusing to pay him for a trip from Masaka to Mbarara and back to Kampala. Nameere said she successfully sued him, won the case, and that he later apologized after being arrested.
She maintained that Nakazibwe knows the truth about what transpired, adding that, “She knows the truth that in her case she was saved by Andrew Kyamagero. The case was very close to being decided ex-parte and she had no defense at all. Andrew intervened, she came clean; she admitted she was in the wrong and I forgave her and left her to the world to manage her. I am not even mad at her.”
