One Arsenal fan killed after yesterday’s match against Manchester United. It is one of the rival games and the team that run always brags about.
According to reports, a security guard shot and killed 30-year-old John Ssenyonga, an Arsenal supporter during last night football game in Kalungu District at Afric Restaurant in the Uganda Cares building in Lukaya Town Council.
The victim, identified as 30-year-old John Ssenyonga, was celebrating Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United when the altercation took place.
According to eyewitnesses, the trouble began around 12:30 am when Arsenal fans started jubilating after their team scored the second goal.
The restaurant managers who were supporters of Manchester United responded by switching off the electricity, which only intensified the fans’ celebrations.
The security guard, Richard Okecho, who is attached to Garda World Security Company, ordered the rowdy arsenal fans to quiet down which they didn’t do, he opened fire, killing Ssenyonga and injuring another fan identified only as Lawrence.
Uganda has been one of the African countries that is good at supporting European football. Despite the time differences they keep up to watch the matches.
It is not a common thing for a fan to die but there are those that have lost their lives in that matter.
