Veteran musician and pastor Willy Mukaabya has revealed that he has no plans of ever relocating back to South Africa, saying his previous stay in the country left him with no desire to live there permanently.
Mukaabya explained that he once moved to South Africa to live with his son for some time before eventually returning to Uganda. Despite spending time there with family, he said he found it difficult to adapt to life in the country and preferred being back home.
Speaking about his experience, Mukaabya said South Africa was not an easy place for him to work from and that he was uncomfortable with the lifestyle he observed.
“First, it’s a hard place to work from and secondly everyone does what they want. The laws are not many and I only go there when my children call me, for a month tops, but I see everything and I can’t stay there,” he said.
The singer added that he now only visits South Africa briefly whenever his children invite him, insisting that a stay of more than a month is out of the question. He maintained that Uganda remains the place where he feels most comfortable living and working.
Away from music, Mukaabya said he has expanded his interests beyond his recent calling as a pastor. He disclosed that he is also a herbalist and is involved in making cosmetic products.
“I also mix cosmetics. I actually first became a herbalist before becoming a pastor,” he revealed, highlighting another side of his career outside entertainment and ministry.
