Singer and actress Hellen Lukoma has declared that she has no plans of leaving the music industry anytime soon, saying music has transformed her life and continues to be her main source of income.
Speaking openly about her journey, Lukoma said music has helped her survive, take care of her family, and given her happiness over the years.
“I’m not ready to leave the music industry; I will die here. If you are planning to bewitch me, just go ahead and do so because I’m not going anywhere,” she said.
The singer explained that her career has enabled her to provide for her children, pay school fees, and live comfortably, adding that she sees no reason to abandon the talent God gave her.
“Why would I leave, yet it is my source of income; I get what to eat, pay my children’s fees, and it is my joy? If God gave me this talent and a chance to inspire others, why would I?” Lukoma added.
She also credited her loyal fan base for standing by her throughout her career, saying their support continues to motivate her to keep going despite challenges in the entertainment industry.
According to Lukoma, music has continued to pay off through different revenue streams including performances and CallerTunez, while she is also optimistic about the recently introduced copyright measures and the benefits they could bring to artistes.
“My music has paid off. Some of us are really blessed, and we are getting better because we even have fans who fight for us. I earn so much from CallerTunez, performances, and now that the Copyright is here, they will explain it to us more than we see how it will be of help,” she said.
