Robert Wamala Lumanyika, a senior official at the Uganda Revenue Authority and former WBS Television journalist, is among three people who died in a tragic road accident that occurred on Sunday night along the Kampala–Gulu Highway.

The incident happened in the Karuma Falls area when the URA van reportedly struck an elephant crossing the road.
According to initial accounts, the impact caused the animal to become agitated and it subsequently charged at the vehicle, overturning it in the process as it attempted to trample it.
Lumanyika, who was widely known as a URA tax educator, had built a reputation for spearheading public tax awareness campaigns and educational programmes aimed at improving compliance and understanding of tax obligations among Ugandans.
His sudden death has shocked colleagues and members of the public who knew him for his engaging media presence and commitment to civic education.
