Ugandan vocalist Juliana Kanyomozi says she feels no pressure to chase current music trends, even as genres like Amapiano continue to dominate the charts.

Speaking during an interview on Capital FM, Juliana explained that while she respects what today’s artistes are doing, she’s content staying true to her own sound.
“I think I am beyond that,” she said. “I feel like this is their time. The generation that is recording music and releasing it the way they are, I feel like it is their time and they are doing their thing the way they feel is right for them at the moment.”
Though Juliana admits she’s a fan of the genre, she doesn’t see herself jumping on the Amapiano wave anytime soon.
“Do I enjoy listening to it? Yes. I enjoy watching those female DJs when they are doing Amapiano. Will I do it? Probably not,” she added.
Rather than reinventing herself to match what’s trending, the award-winning singer says she’s proud of the younger generation while choosing to stay in her own lane.
“They are doing their thing and I am proud of them while I continue doing mine.”
