Ian Ortega has embarked on a grand new artistic project. He’s calling it – “The Ortega 100”, a project in which he aims to share 100 lists of 100 things that constitute a true, beautiful and good life.
Ortega narrates, “I am riding on the waves of Will Durant. There’s a book he wrote where he shares lists such as 100 books for an education. I thought to myself that perhaps there should be a way of cloning myself, sharing some of the art and culture that has rubbed my soul.”
Ortega believes that the age of the influencer is dying, and the age of the curator is coming up. “As Artificial Intelligence accelerates, more and more power is starting to shift to the taste curator. The next age is about taste, and this project is about that – sharing the things I have found tasty in life so far.”
Ortega has kicked off with the Ortega’s 100 Films, a compilation of his best cinematic works. “There will be more, for example. Ortega’s 100 books, Ortega’s 100 restaurants, you get the gist. It’s to say, if you had to rewatch or re-read the same books, then what would they be? That’s the quest I am onto, to answer those kinds of questions with my lists. And in a way, invite others to do the same. In this new world, it’s about elevating each other’s tastes.”
