Ugandan author, entrepreneur, political analyst and medical practitioner Abel Mwenda is already getting serious backing for his upcoming book “The Museveni I Know” even before its official launch.

The book, which reflects on the life and rise of President Yoweri Museveni, was unveiled last weekend during the Muhoozi Birthday Run at Kololo Independence Grounds, where top figures in the country had a sneak peek at a few chapters.
Among those endorsing it is Luzi Abraham, who praised Mwenda for taking the time to document the story of Uganda’s long-serving leader.
He also pledged his full support towards the project.

In a strong show of backing, the president’s brother Michael Nuwagira (commonly referred to as Toyota) thanked attendees and revealed plans to support the book in a big way. He pledged to buy copies worth millions and distribute them to Ugandans who may not afford them.
Outspoken media personality Frank Gashumba also weighed in, applauding the young author and urging Ugandans to read the book. He even invited Mwenda to his office for a deeper discussion about the project.
Former IGP Kale Kayihura also showed interest, directly questioning Mwenda on why he chose to write about Museveni. In a calm but confident response, Mwenda told him: “General, if you read the book, you will find out.”
Meanwhile, Allan Kunya Yesero, who was in charge of organizing and overseeing the event, thanked all those who attended. He gave special appreciation to Mwenda, describing him as patriotic for choosing to positively narrate the president’s story.

From early recognitions, The Museveni I Know is turning out to be more than just a biography as it blends history, satire, and personal reflection to tell the story of Museveni’s rise from a young revolutionary thinker to one of Africa’s most influential leaders.
The book is expected to be officially launched in July, and if the early endorsements are anything to go by, it might just become one of the most talked-about political reads in Uganda this year.
