Singer Azawi has spoken out in defense of rising artist Kapeke, calling on fans and critics to respect his journey and stop judging his current lifestyle.
In a recent statement, Azawi revealed that she has known Kapeke’s hustle long before either of them gained mainstream recognition. According to her, Kapeke’s story is one of persistence and patience, having spent years grinding in the music industry before finally getting his breakthrough.
“Respect this boy. When I see him acting in a certain way, I’m like it’s okay. Kapeke has been in this industry for long. To see him enjoying now, leave him alone,” Azawi said.
She emphasized that Kapeke was active in music even before her own rise to fame, noting that his efforts often went unnoticed for years. Azawi also highlighted his humble beginnings, explaining that he used to sell clothes on the busy streets of Owino Market while chasing his music dreams.
Kapeke’s breakthrough didn’t come overnight. Azawi pointed out that he was present in the background during moments of success for other artists, including Fik Fameica, before eventually getting his own hit song that pushed him into the spotlight.
“In fact, Fik Fameica hit up and Kapeke was also there in the background, so if you see him now showing off and all, let him be,” she added.
Azawi’s remarks come at a time when Kapeke has been facing scrutiny over his public behavior and lifestyle. However, her message is clear—his current success is the result of years of hard work, and he deserves the chance to enjoy it without criticism.
