Dokta Brain Says Songwriting Pays Him More Than Singing

By BigEyeUg Team

Talented Ugandan songwriter and musician Dokta Brain has revealed that he currently earns more money from songwriting than from his own music career as a singer.

Known for crafting some of the most impressive song pieces in recent years, Dokta Brain says his journey into songwriting began during a difficult chapter in his life when he was locked up as a juvenile in Naguru.

According to the songwriter, that period turned out to be a turning point for his career.

When I came out, I looked for a pen and a book and I learned that there’s something called a demo that you can give to an artist and they give you money, so I started doing music for sale to elevate my own career,” Dokta Brain explained.

After discovering the business side of writing music, he began creating songs for other artists, something that quickly turned into a reliable source of income.

Dokta Brain says while he is confident in his abilities as a musician and performer, songwriting has proven to be a faster and more stable path for him financially.

“I think I am surviving more in studio than on stage for now. I am surviving more on songwriting,” he said.

Over time, his writing skills have helped him remain active in the music industry, even when he is not releasing his own songs.
