Artist Daxx Kartel has shared his thoughts on the ongoing trend of the Ugandan government giving financial support to artists, bloggers, influencers, and other players in the entertainment industry.

In a recent interview, he argued that the government is approaching the support the wrong way by handing out physical cash to individuals.
According to him, the money would have had a greater and more lasting impact if it had been invested in building structures that strengthen the music industry.
“If that money was invested in the structures of the music industry, we would reach a point where we even loan out some money to the government,” he said.
To illustrate his point, he referenced wealthy Ugandan businessmen such as Gordon Wavamunno and Sudhir Ruparelia, noting that individuals like them are financially capable of lending money to the government.
“If those individuals can do it, then how about an industry?” he questioned.
Daxx Kartel also warned fellow artists who have embraced the funds, saying that while they may currently be celebrated for living lavish lifestyles, the long-term consequences could be damaging.
“Whatever you take from this government will leave a dent in your children’s future to suffer, and you’ll be a villain, not a hero,” he advised, emphasizing that the choice remains theirs to make.
