Churchill James Ssentamu, the Makerere University Guild President and nephew to National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has suffered a resounding defeat in the Central Region Youth Representative to Parliament race.

According to official results released by the Electoral Commission, Ssentamu managed to secure only 34 votes, finishing far behind the winner, Begira Samuel of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), who garnered a commanding 1,001 votes.

The results were officially declared on January 28, 2026, by the Central Region Returning Officer, Kashagire Harriet, at Masaka Sports Arena.

A total of 1,105 ballot papers were counted during the exercise, of which 1,100 were found valid. Five ballot papers were rejected, while two were spoiled.

The wide margin in the final tally underscored the NRM’s continued dominance in elections for special interest group representatives, particularly at the regional level.

Other contenders in the race posted negligible figures. Nazimuura Isaac of the BALL party obtained 46 votes, Edward Mulabako of the National Unity Platform (NUP) received 12 votes, while Democratic Party (DP) candidate Andrew Bbaale trailed with just two votes.
