Imagine traveling four hundred kilometers for one shot on a stage. That is roughly the distance between Gulu and Kampala; enough time on the road to rehearse what you’ll say if you are called, and what you’ll tell yourself if after it all you don’t make it.
That was what happened at Motiv Bugolobi over the weekend, where a lineup of young women from across Northern Uganda arrived for their chance at the Miss Uganda North title.
This was the second regional showdown in the nationwide search for Miss Uganda 2026. V&A Sherry, working alongside the Miss Uganda Foundation, turned the evening into a genuine celebration of the region’s young women, their ambition, their talent, and the individuality that makes each of their journeys distinct.
When the contestants finally took the stage, confidence, personality, and raw talent was all on display for the judges and audience that had shown up specifically to witness this next chapter unfold. Every walk, every word, every flash of personality gave the crowd a glimpse of the women behind the gowns and the stage lights as young women telling the audience exactly who they were.
For Roy Ronald Tumwizere, Brand Manager for V&A Sherry at Uganda Breweries Limited, the night captured something that V&A holds in its identity. “Every region brings its own stories, talent and character to the Miss Uganda journey, and Northern Uganda has shown us just how much there is to celebrate. At V&A Sherry, we believe the moments that matter most are the ones we share with others, and through our Yours to Share platform, we are proud to celebrate these young women as they step forward, represent their communities and pursue their dreams on the national stage.” He noted.
Northern Uganda’s leg followed the competition’s opening chapter in Eastern Uganda, held in Jinja, where Nabirye Faith Magero, Ajambo Olivia, and Balwaani Patricia punched their tickets to the national stage. Now it was the north’s turn to add its own names to that growing list, and its own flavor to a competition that’s proving to be as much a celebration of Uganda’s regional diversity as it is a beauty pageant.
Between rounds, musical performances by artists straight from Northern Uganda filled Motiv Bugolobi, turning the gaps between competition segments into pockets of pure celebration. For a few songs at a time, contestants and guests alike could set aside the nerves of competition and simply enjoy being together.
When the final results were announced, cheers erupted showing how much this night meant to the people who’d shown up to support their own.
The winners were; Alum Eunice Amelia who is now the Miss Uganda North 2026, Akot Charity the first runner-up and Atim Victoria the second runner-up. For those who did not win, the night was a chance to stand in front of an audience, share their story, and take a bold, public step toward their own ambitions.
Northern Uganda’s story now joins a growing tapestry stitching itself together across the country. The Journey to the Crown 2026 rolls on through West Nile, Western, and Central Uganda, with each region adding its own chapter before everything converges on the grand finale on October 10 at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, where one woman will finally be crowned Miss Uganda 2026 and earn the right to represent the country on the Miss World stage.
For Eunice, Charity, and Victoria, that four-hundred-kilometer drive from Northern Uganda is the beginning of their road to the crown.
The search will continue in West Nile, Western, and Central Uganda where more young women will be crowned to compete at the Grand Finale set for October 10 where the winner will represent the nation at the Miss World stage.
