Heir to Late Francis Xavier Kitaka’s Estate Warns Public Against Alleged Illegal Land Sales

The heir to the estate of the late Francis Xavier Kitaka has issued a public notice warning members of the public against purchasing land said to belong to the deceased, alleging that unauthorized individuals are attempting to sell parts of the estate.

Mr. Frederick Mutebi Kitaka, who identifies himself as the heir to the late Francis Xavier Kitaka, says he has become aware of what he describes as fraudulent transactions involving land belonging to the estate.

According to Mr. Kitaka, the affected properties are located in Wabiyinja and Kabugeza in Singo, Namayamba, Bunamwaya, Naziba, Kisugu and Makindye in Kyadondo.

In the notice, Mr. Kitaka states that no person including a wife, child, relative, clan member or any other individual has the authority to sell, lease, transfer, give away or otherwise deal with any of the late Francis Xavier Kitaka’s land unless duly authorized under the law.

He further claims that some individuals have been disposing of portions of the estate without legal authority and warned that any transactions arising from such dealings are disputed and may not confer valid ownership rights.

Mr. Kitaka cautioned that anyone who has purchased, is in the process of purchasing, occupies or uses any of the land in question may face legal proceedings if the transactions are found to have been unauthorized.

He has advised prospective buyers and the general public to exercise caution and to verify ownership and the legal status of any property forming part of the late Francis Xavier Kitaka’s estate before entering into any transaction.

The public notice comes amid growing concerns over land disputes and alleged fraudulent land transactions in Uganda, where buyers are frequently encouraged to carry out thorough due diligence before purchasing property. The matter may ultimately be determined through the courts should any competing claims arise.
