Rapper Feffe Bussi has dismissed claims that hip hop artists in Uganda are poor, arguing that financial success depends on an individual’s discipline, investments, and work ethic rather than the genre they perform.

Speaking in response to the long-standing stereotype surrounding Ugandan rappers, Feffe Bussi questioned why hip hop is often singled out when discussing money matters in the music industry.
“Which genre makes money? If you give me another genre, I will ask: does everyone in that genre have money?” he said.
The rapper explained that wealth is determined by how an artist manages their career and finances, not the style of music they choose to pursue.
“Having money depends on so many things. You cannot just put it on one genre and say that because someone is doing a certain genre of music, they do not have money,” Feffe Bussi stated.
He further emphasized the importance of discipline and consistency, noting that artists with a stronger work ethic are more likely to succeed financially.
“There is discipline when it comes to money, how you invest your money, and your work ethic. You are not going to make the same money as someone who has a strong work ethic,” he added.
Feffe Bussi’s remarks come at a time when he is fully focused on preparations for his upcoming Hip-Hop Ku Ntiko concert. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place on May 16, 2026, at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.
