Kampala’s creative scene is set for another electrifying experience as Guinness Smooth teams up with Elixir by El to present a special DJ Edition of the Guinness Smooth Creators Lab. The event will take place on May 8th at Shisa Nyama Village, bringing together some of the most exciting names in Uganda’s DJ community for a night dedicated to sound, skill, and self-expression.
Building on the momentum of previous editions, the Creators Lab continues to evolve as a platform that nurtures and celebrates creative talent across different disciplines. This upcoming DJ-focused edition follows the success of the Sportainment experience held in partnership with Ekikumba Fusion, which fused football, fashion, music, and art into a vibrant cultural showcase in Kampala. With each edition, the Creators Lab reinforces its role as a hub where creativity meets opportunity.
The DJ Edition promises an immersive experience for both aspiring and established DJs. At its core is a masterclass led by renowned deejay, DJ Maintain, offering attendees a chance to gain insights into the craft, refine their skills, and learn from one of the industry’s respected figures.
DJ Maintain is widely recognised as one of Uganda’s most influential DJs, known for his versatility, technical precision, and ability to read and move diverse crowds. With years of experience across major events, clubs, and festivals, he has built a reputation for seamlessly blending genres and setting trends within the local music scene. Beyond the decks, he has also contributed to nurturing emerging talent, making him a fitting mentor for a platform designed to inspire and elevate the next generation of creatives.
The night will also feature an exciting lineup of performances from some of Uganda’s hottest and fastest-rising spin doctors, including EL DJ, Smol Eyez, DJ Simon, Shie Money, Jean, AO The Walker, Eyo Mackus, alongside host MC Saint Trevor. Together, they will deliver a dynamic mix of sounds, showcasing the diversity and creativity shaping Uganda’s DJ culture today.
Speaking ahead of the event, Guinness Brand Manager Denise Paula Nazzinda highlighted the intention behind this edition: “Real DJs do not follow trends, they create them. The Guinness Smooth Creators Lab DJ Edition is about giving DJs a space to learn, connect, and push their creativity further. Through platforms like this, we are committed to empowering the next generation of talent to take ownership of their craft and shape the future of Uganda’s music culture.”
From hands-on learning to high-energy performances, the Guinness Smooth Creators Lab DJ Edition is set to deliver an unforgettable experience that blends education, entertainment, and community. As the Creators Lab series continues to expand across fashion, sport, music, and digital culture, it remains rooted in its mission to inspire creatives to make their mark and truly Make It Yours.
