Eddy Kenzo Misses Out on Grammy Again as South Africa’s Tyla Takes 2026 Award

By BigEyeUg Team

Ugandan music star Eddy Kenzo has once again fallen short of securing a Grammy Award, missing out at his second nomination during the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Kenzo was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his song “Hope & Love,” a collaboration with Iranian-American artist Mehran Matin. However, the award was won by South African sensation Tyla, whose hit song “Push 2 Start” emerged victorious on the night.

The highly competitive category also featured some of Africa’s biggest music heavyweights, including Davido, Omah Lay, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Ayra Starr, highlighting the stiff competition Kenzo faced.

This marks the second time Eddy Kenzo has been nominated for a Grammy but failed to take home the prestigious accolade.

His first nomination came in 2022, when he earned a spot in the Best Global Music Performance category for his collaboration “Gimme Love” with American singer Matt B. He similarly missed out on the award at that time.

Despite the loss, Kenzo remains one of Uganda’s most internationally recognized artists, with his Grammy nominations continuing to cement his place on the global music stage and raising Uganda’s profile in the international music industry.
