Paul Put names squad for decisive contest

UGANDA CRANES

At least nine of the 27 players summoned by Uganda Cranes coach, Paul Joseph Put, at FUFA House in Mengo on Wednesday play their football in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The announced squad will start preparations for two AFCON qualifying matches against South Africa at Namboole on November 15 and Congo in Brazzaville four days later on Sunday.

KCCA lead with four player contributions, jointly followed by SC Villa and Kitara with two each, and Vipers SC coming in next with just one.

Goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa, defender Gavin Kizito Mugweri, midfielder Saidi Mayanja and striker Shafik Kwikiriza complete the KCCA cast.

Kitara come in with striker Denis Omedi and forward Jude Ssemugabi, with midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda and attacker Hakim Kiwanuka making Villa’s contribution. Vipers’ lone soldier is playmaker Allan Okello.

The Cranes top Group K on 10 points, two more than South Africa, having won three of their opening four matches.

A draw at Namboole on November 15 would see the Cranes confirm their slot at Morocco 2025 with a game to spare.
