Kakande inspires Villa back to winning ways

SC Villa ended their three-match winless run by beating Gaddafi 1-0 in Jinja to keep the leading pack of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League in sight.

Patrick Jonah Kakande was at it again, showing extreme composure to bring down a beautiful Ronald Ssekiganda searching ball before beating three Gaddafi players and slotting home a 76th minute winner.

This was Villa’s 12th win in 24 matches and moves them back to fourth place on 45 points, just two behind leaders Kitara, who have played one game more.

Gaddafi remain fourth from bottom on 19 points after 24 matches.

At Kavumba in Wakiso District, in-form KCCA’s five-match winning streak was brought to an end by hosts Soltilo Bright Stars.

Actually, coach Abdallah Mubiru’s boys needed a 75th minute Shaban Muhammad equaliser to rescue a point in the 2-2 draw after twice falling behind.

Bunjo Noordin first gave the hosts a 31st minute lead before Haruna Lukwago cancelled it out a few moments later.

Ashiraf Mulindi restored Bright Stars lead just three minutes into the second half but the visitors levelled matters again through Shaban to settle for a point.

KCCA’s third draw in 24 matches has them sixth on 39 points, while in 10th on 30 points with just three games left, Bright Stars are comfortably safe from any relegation worries.
