Zamalek SC are preparing to face RS Berkane in a repeat of the 2019 edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Final that went the way of the Egyptians.
Head coach of the White Knights, Jose Gomes and Omar Gaber shared their thoughts ahead of the clash on Sunday set to kick off at 20h00 Local Time (19h00 GMT) at the Berkane Municipal Stadium.
This is what the coach and his player had to say:
Jose Gomes:
“We have been preparing for this moment and we are optimistic we will get good results despite knowing our opponents are also a very good side. Berkane are a tough team and that motivates us to work hard in the final both here in Morocco and back home in Egypt.
Yes we miss six players but I can’t complain because I trust on my other players to play against a strong team like Berkane. I am optimistic of getting good results if we maintain our tempo and concentration.
Berkane are interesting because of how they organise their tactical game but we have come with our own strategy”.
Omar Gaber:
“We are going to play against a good side Berkane but as the coach has said we are here to give our best and take advantage of starting away from home.
It will not be an easy game but we are ready for the challenge as we remember this is like a repeat match as both our teams have once met in the final at one time.
We are motivated and geared towards positive results because as players we know the importance of winning such a prestigious trophy through hard work”
