Tooro Kingdom is mourning the death of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who has died at the age of 34.
The monarch’s death comes hours after Tooro Kingdom confirmed that he was in critical condition and appealed to the public to pray for him. His passing brings to an end a reign that began in 1995, when he ascended the throne at just three years old.
King Oyo became one of Uganda’s most prominent traditional leaders, with his reign spanning more than three decades. His death has triggered an outpouring of grief from the people of Tooro, the Royal Family and Ugandans across the country.
Further details about the cause of death, burial arrangements and succession are expected to be communicated by Tooro Kingdom and the Royal Family.
