Shakira Shakiraa Reveals Why She Stepped Away From Music

By BigEyeUg Team

Shakira Shakiraa has opened up about why she has been largely absent from Uganda’s music scene in recent months, revealing that her focus has shifted to building her clothing business.

The singer disclosed that she now spends most of her time managing a boutique in downtown Kampala, a venture that gradually took priority over her music career. According to Shakira, the decision was heavily influenced by her manager, who believed she was spending too much money without making long-term investments.

My manager pushed me into the clothing business. I was not interested at first, but he felt I was wasting a lot of money,” Shakira explained, adding that she was initially reluctant to venture into the fashion industry.

She said her perspective changed after her manager took her on a business trip to China, where she witnessed the scale and potential of the clothing trade.

Inspired by what she saw, Shakira decided to invest heavily in the business, revealing that she spent more than $70,000 (approximately UGX 200 million) to establish her boutique. However, she noted that upcoming entrepreneurs do not necessarily need such a huge investment to successfully start a clothing business.
