Tensions in Buganda’s Political Music Crossroads Escalate as Cancelled Concert Fallout Continues. In the politically charged atmosphere of Uganda’s Buganda region, a high-profile feud between celebrated musician King Saha and Minister Haruna Kasolo has captured public attention. What began as a dispute over a concert permit has evolved into an open confrontation that highlights the intersection of music, politics, and local governance.
The rivalry traces back to December 2025, when King Saha planned a major concert in his home district of Kyotera. Organizers and observers widely associated the event with the opposition People Movement camp, with claims that it received full or significant funding from National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
Hon. Haruna Kasolo, a prominent NRM figure, Buganda region NRM CEC member, and strong supporter of President Yoweri Museveni, intervened decisively. The concert was ultimately cancelled, a move many attributed to the minister’s determination to prevent what he viewed as an opposition aligned event in his area of influence.
King Saha did not take the cancellation lightly. He publicly declared war on the minister, promising to use his platform to challenge Kasolo’s actions. For months, the tension simmered beneath the surface until it erupted dramatically on stage.
The latest chapter unfolded at Kazibwe Kappo’s concert, where King Saha took the microphone and launched a direct verbal assault on Minister Kasolo. In a bold move, the musician targeted the minister while he sat in the audience alongside his wife and fellow politician Hon. Denis Mukasa Mbidde.
Eyewitnesses described the atmosphere as electric, with the crowd reacting to the unexpected political drama unfolding during what was meant to be a musical celebration. King Saha’s performance quickly shifted from entertainment to pointed criticism, reigniting the feud in full public view.
Minister Haruna Kasolo has refused to be drawn into a personal battle. Speaking after the incident, the minister made his position crystal clear: he is not ready to apologize and has no intention of negotiating with King Saha over the matter.
“I am not shaken by Saha’s threats,” sources close to the minister quoted him as saying. “I will not negotiate with him. I am concentrating on national matters.”
