David Lutalo warns against mixing politics with music

By BigEyeUg Team

David Lutalo has weighed in on the growing intersection between politics and the entertainment industry, cautioning that the two should not be intertwined.

Speaking out, Lutalo expressed concern that political influence has negatively impacted the music scene, arguing that artistry should remain independent and driven by genuine emotion rather than external pressure.

According to the “Kapapala” hitmaker, music is deeply rooted in feeling and creativity, something that cannot be forced or dictated. He emphasized that when artists are pressured into aligning with certain political ideologies or figures, it compromises the authenticity of their work.

“If you force someone to create something, it won’t come out well. Politics has affected everything and not just us,” Lutalo explained, adding that any musician who chooses to engage in politics should do so out of personal conviction, not public or peer pressure.

Lutalo further noted that while artists have the freedom to support political figures or causes of their choice, they should equally be respected if they decide to remain neutral. He stressed that not every musician is comfortable taking a public stance and that such decisions often come from thoughtful consideration.

“It’s good not to force them because they have their reasons. Musicians can see the future,” he added.
