The leadership of the Uganda National Musicians Federation has moved to support singer Grace Khan after she publicly appealed for financial assistance to clear her rehabilitation bill.
Grace Khan recently revealed that she needed about Shs4 million to settle outstanding fees at a rehabilitation facility following her recovery journey from alcohol addiction.
Her appeal attracted attention from fellow artists and fans, prompting swift action from the Federation.
Speaking to journalists, Federation president Eddy Kenzo confirmed that they had already stepped in to offer support.
He explained that the organization contributed some funds and dispatched its mental health team to assess the situation and mobilize additional assistance. According to Kenzo, part of the money was raised through internal fundraising efforts aimed at helping the singer complete her recovery process.
Kenzo further disclosed that fellow artist Ameria Nambala also added to the contribution, boosting the funds that had initially been collected. He noted that they are now waiting to see whether the payments made will facilitate Grace Khan’s release from the facility.
However, Kenzo emphasized that while the Federation is committed to supporting musicians in times of need, its resources are limited. He pointed out that the organization handles numerous cases involving artists who require financial and emotional assistance.
He maintained that the Federation can only extend help within its means, given the many demands placed on it and the limited funds available to address every challenge fully.
