The fiery star of Swangz Avenue, Azawi, isn’t holding back. Priscilla Zawedde, the singer, has taken to social media to criticize Ugandan musicians who have taken government funding.
“Artists ate government money; now they can’t say anything because they are compromised. Yet, when the time comes to hold concerts, they want the people to turn up for them.”
With her career already on the rise due to her natural talent and Swangz Avenue’s backing, Azawi is adamant that musicians ought to use their position to speak out for their fans, particularly in difficult times.
Her anger is especially directed at people who have accepted government assistance while their supporters face difficulties such as inadequate medical care.
