Here is why Dembe FM closed

Nation Media Group, the owner of media companies, NTV, Spark TV, KFM and Monitor Publications revealed last night that one of its companies Dembe FM will be going off air.

They didn’t specify the reason but said they were sorry for the inconveniences. Besides they will sit down as the board of directors and see the way forward for the radio.

“We regret to inform our esteemed listeners, clients and other stakeholders of 90.4 Dembe FM that the station will, for the foreseeable future, have no scheduled programming as the Board and Management reassesses its continued viability as a business concern. We apologise for any inconveniences that this may cause,” read the announcement.

Dembe FM has been one of the most popular loca radio stations. It gave birth to media personalities such as Kasuku, DJ Jacob Omutuuze, Bina Baibe among others.

Besides it has been so pivotal in growing the local music industry. A number of musicians have had their careers promoted by the radio.

It didn’t belong to Nation Media but the Kenyan company bought it and shifted it from Nakaseero to Namuwongo in the industrial area.
