A Pass shares his thoughts on what truly defines success in the music industry, emphasizing that talent alone is not enough—luck also plays a crucial role.

While speaking on a YouTube podcast, A Pass explained that becoming a star doesn’t follow a fixed formula. According to him, different factors can push an artist to the top, but luck often determines how far talent can go.

To illustrate his point, he referenced socialite and entrepreneur Zari Hassan, noting that despite investing heavily in her music career, success in that field didn’t materialize.

We had Zari, she had all the money but her music career wasn’t successful. But she’s successful business-wise, so probably luck wasn’t in music because she did expensive videos,” A Pass said.

The “Wuuyo” hitmaker also weighed in on vocal ability versus stardom, arguing that being vocally gifted does not always translate into mainstream success.

He pointed out that artists like Spice Diana and Sheebah Karungi may not rank among the strongest vocalists compared to singers like Lilian Mbabazi or Tracy Melon, but have mastered the art of leveraging their strengths to achieve massive success.

He further extended the comparison to male artists, mentioning Eddy Kenzo and Maurice Kirya. A Pass noted that while Kenzo has achieved immense popularity, Kirya stands out as a superior live performer.

Even Kenzo—you can’t compare him with Maurice Kirya. You can’t put them on the same table vocally, and I know this upsets some fans, but it’s the truth. Maurice Kirya is the best live performer in the whole of Uganda. I maybe number two because I have to switch between genres and vocals have to sound different,” he added.
