Uganda’s State Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development in charge of Children and Youth Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, has urged Ugandans to prioritize writing wills as a way of preparing for the unexpected.

While speaking in a recent interview on Spark TV, the minister—appointed by President Yoweri Museveni—emphasized that drafting a will should not be associated with fear of death, but rather seen as responsible planning.
“Writing a will doesn’t mean that you’re going to die,” he noted, adding that he is currently in the process of writing his own.
In an honest revelation, Balaam also disclosed that he has three children that he is fully aware of, and is considering including all of them in his will.
He went on to share his personal wishes regarding his final resting place, stating that he would prefer to be buried in Masindi.
“When I die, I wouldn’t want to be buried in Nakasajja, Namasagali or Kaliisizo. They should take me to Masindi,” he emphasized.
