Ugandan music star A Pass has revealed that one of his latest hits, Buwooma, was inspired by an unusual source—a rolex!
The song, which is currently trending on TikTok, has fans grooving to its catchy beat, and now the artist has shared the quirky story behind its creation.
Speaking about the track, A Pass explained that he had the beat for a while but was struggling to find the right lyrics. He turned to fellow artist Kaboo, who features on the song, and gave him a week to come up with something.
“I came back the following Monday and I swear I had no idea,” A Pass recalled. “Every time I went to the studio that whole week, I would get nothing. I was thinking, how can I cook up something sweet?”
The breakthrough came in a surprisingly tasty way. While walking around the studio eating a rolex—a popular Ugandan street snack of eggs, vegetables, and chapati—A Pass began singing inspired by the flavors.
“I started singing basing on the rolex because it was actually sweet,” he said.
