Striker Henry Kitegenyi joins Kigezi Homeboyz

FUFA Big League side Kigezi Homeboyz have completed the signing of striker Henry Kitegenyi on loan from Mbarara City until the end of the season.

Kitegenyi’s loan deal to Kigezi Homeboyz comes after his indefinite suspension at Mbarara City following the club’s 0-0 draw with Lugazi FC at the start of the UPL second round.

He reunites with Sadick Sempigi who was his coach at Mbabara City in the 2022/23 season when he emerged as the FUFA Big League Most Valuable Player after scoring 22 goals as the Ankole Lions earned promotion back to the topflight.

His arrival is expected to add more firepower in Sempigi’s attacking force and to inspire Kigezi Homeboyz during their final push for a maiden topflight promotion.

Kitegenyi will don shirt number 9 and could debut in the club’s immediate encounter against fellow promotion hopefuls Ntugasaze FC on Sunday 8th March at Kavumba.

The former Vipers SC and Kansai Plascon brings experience, aggressiveness and hunger to the Kigezi Homeboyz team ahead of the business end of the season.

He becomes the club’s sixth and final mid-season signing of the club following Dominic Abonga, Julius Barasa, Edrine Opaala Mukisa, Mike Walaga and Eric Junior Akol.

Kigezi Homeboyz currently sit third on the FUFA Big League table with 29 points, tied with leaders Ntugasaze, second placed Paidha Black Angels and 4th placed Blacks Power.
