Ugandan dancehall singer Coco Finger has opened up about one of the most controversial moments of his early career, revealing that he once rolled marijuana using pages torn from a Bible.

Speaking about his journey to stardom, the “Emikono Wagulu” hitmaker said the act happened during his struggling days as an upcoming artist when he was desperate to do anything that promised success.
According to Coco Finger, he was heavily influenced by peers who convinced him that smoking weed would boost his courage and confidence on stage.
“You remember those small blue-covered Bibles? I used to always move with one of them in my pockets during my upcoming era days. So, we used to do whatever we were told that would help us become stars,” he recalled.
He admitted that in a bid to test the advice he was given, he tore pages from the Bible and used them to roll marijuana.
“They told us that puffing weed would give us courage and confidence. So, I tried it all out. I tore some of the pages from that Bible and rolled weed into them and started puffing,” he said.
Coco Finger added that some of the words in the Bible felt powerful and meaningful to him at the time, which made the act even more symbolic in his mind.
“Some words were so good and touching to me, so I said let me just puff them, and from that day, I composed ‘Emikono Wagulu’ and I haven’t looked back since then,” he revealed.
The singer says that moment marked a turning point in his career, as he went on to write and release Emikono Wagulu, the breakthrough track that propelled him into the spotlight.
