Music producer Artin Pro, real name Martin Musoke, has directed the Uganda Performing Rights Society (UPRS) to channel all royalties and allowances due to him to the families of two late producers — Danz Kumapeesa and Skills on the Beat.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Artin Pro revealed that the decision comes as part of his responsibility as a Director at UPRS, a position he assumed in August 2024 following a delegates’ mandate.
“I accepted that role knowing leadership is a service,” he noted, adding that his time in office has been marked by learning, responsibility, and accountability.
The producer explained that serving in leadership has opened his eyes to uncomfortable realities within the music industry, particularly the vulnerability faced by families of deceased creatives.
“As leadership elevates your view, it also exposes hard truths. When our fellow creators pass on, their families are often left vulnerable, yet the industry continues to benefit from their legacy. That disconnect must be addressed,” he stated.
With that conviction, Artin Pro formally instructed UPRS management that all royalties and allowances due to him — both now and in the future — be remitted to the families of the late Producer Danz Ku Mapeesa and Producer Skills on the Beat.
He described the move as both a personal decision and a statement of principle, emphasizing that creators’ rights should not end with their lives.
“Our responsibility extends to the families and legacies they leave behind,” he stressed, adding that the gesture will remain in effect for the remainder of his tenure as Director representing audio producers.
Danz Kumapeesa, born Daniel Mukisa, passed away in October 2017 after spending months in a coma. He had sustained severe skull injuries in June 2017 when he was brutally attacked by unknown assailants while returning to his home in Makindye, Kampala.
Meanwhile, Erisa Mukisa, popularly known as Skills on the Beat, died in October 2024 at Kiruddu Hospital in Kampala following a prolonged battle with illness.
