The National Peasants Party (NPP) has officially fired its president, Hajjat Stecia Mayanja, after she performed at the recently concluded National Resistance Movement (NRM) rally.
The rally was held following the nomination of NRM’s party president, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
NPP leadership described Stecia’s action as a betrayal of the party’s principles and a conflict of interest.
It should be noted that in July 2025, Stecia Mayanja was named president of NPP as part of the party’s strategy to prepare for the 2026 elections.
Her dismissal has sparked mixed reactions, with some supporters questioning the decision while others say it was necessary to protect the party’s credibility.
The NPP is expected to announce its next course of action and new leadership in the coming days.
