The president of Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) Cindy Sanyu has revealed reasons why it agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) led by Eddy Kenzo.
In the beginning, UMA wasn’t happy that actually the federation was formed. They accused them of stealing the ideas saying that they can’t think on their own.
However the federation ended up being even more successful than UMA hence making all artistes in the association and federation come together.
According to Cindy, it wasn’t planned for the association to sign an MOU but then they talked about how difficult it’s going to be to distribute money that was the solution.
She said that the main reason for signing the MOUnis to share the money in the budget equally and she is hoping that they achieve that.
“We[UMA] signed an MOU with UNMF…to see how to share the money in the budget,” Cindy Sanyu confirms
There are some musicians who have refused to join the federation because of the political differences they have with the president Eddy Kenzo.?
