Ugandan singer and CEO of Mpaka Records, Ykee Benda, has officially taken a significant step toward marriage after holding a traditional Kukyala ceremony with his fiancée, Emily Nyawira.
The Kukyala, a customary pre-introduction visit in many Ugandan cultures, took place at Emily’s family home, marking the couple’s first official engagement with her parents. This follows their romantic proposal last month at Divine Resort, where Ykee publicly declared his love and commitment.
According to sources close to the couple, preparations are already underway for a full Kwanjula (traditional introduction ceremony), which is expected to take place in September 2025.
Ykee Benda recently opened up about how quickly he fell in love with Emily, describing her as intelligent, graceful, and grounded.
Emily, who recently completed her Bachelor’s degree in Law at Makerere University, has largely kept a low public profile, but their love story has increasingly captured public attention.
