Kawempe North member of parliament has been pronounced dead by Rubaga hospital where he has been transferred for a while.
Born on 22nd Feb 1988 from Masaka district Uganda, he was originally called Richard Ssegirinya but later adopted the name Muhammad after switching from Catholicism to being a moslem.
He attended Kaduggala Primary school and later joined Pimba Secondary School Kyebando for his high school studies, he would later acquire a Certificate in Urban food Experience from Netherlands.
He started making a name for himself when he found a new hobby in calling radio stations multiple times and addressed himself as ” ssegirinya eddobozi lye Kyebando” and would later transform to “Mr Update” where he would later triumph in the Kawempe North MP seat.
On Sept 3rd 2021 he would be arrested and charged with involvement in rebel activities and would be taken to Kitalya Maximum Security Prison.
Proof of the allegations was never presented. It is generally believed that Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana were arrested because they were popular opposition MPs.
He would be released in 2023 Feb but his health has never been the same since then as he has moved different hospitals first in Netherlands and then Agha Khan in Kenya but he kept deteroiating health wise and never attended any parliamentary sitting since then till he was pronounced dead today..
Ssegirinya will be remembered for the great impact he did in Kawempe North in a very short time he spent in office after winning the election like constructing a hospital that offered free medical services in Kawempe, feeding many people etc.
