Travis Mutyaba strike not enough against Algeria

Uganda 1-2 Algeria

Travis Mutyaba scored early for Uganda but the lead was lost as Algeria came from behind to win 2-1 at Mandela National stadium, Namboole in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Hossam Aouar and Said Benrahma scored in the second half to give the visitors victory.

Former SC Villa attacker stole possession and sent a low shot past the goalie which hit the post before it settled in the net in the 10th minute.

Aouar equalised in the 46th minute before Benrahma won it in the 57th minute off a swift counter attack.

Uganda remain on six points along with Guinea and Botswana while Algeria moves to 9 points same as Mozambique who beat Guinea.

Uganda will return to World Cup qualifying action in March 2025 with matches against Mozambique and Somalia.
