This evening Isaac Daniel Katende socially known as Kasuku Kuku Wa Zabanga made s bold statement on NTV the beat a music show on NTV where he was hosted, made a bold statement that he is not a fan of Ugandan Music anymore.
Kasuku, being one of the most followed and authentic social media analytics stated that Ugandan music is on its knees.
He added that what used to define Ugandan Music was lost.
He stated the downfall of band music and katongo kamu was the demise of Ugandan Music.
To explain this further, the referred to a statement made my Mesach Semakula one of Uganda’s band music legends.
In the statement, Mesach was disagreeing with people who think or believe that band music is not booming in Uganda. He added that if band music went away then why did Ronald Mayinja’s ( another band music legend) concert filled to full capacity?
In response to this statement, Kasuku also challenged the band music artists to hold such shows every single year and see if the numbers will not greatly decline.
He added that Uganda, we no longer have pop music. Before he went on with this, he first explained what pop music means:
“Pop music is known as popular music and it is that music that can make people dance for a span of one year or even more.”
He said that currently, a song is only popular for a period of approximately three months and people forget about it.
He further stated that the biggest challenge that pop music is the internet. On this, he explained that this generation has alot of information it consumes.
He gave a hypothetical that when an artist releases a song, he or she gives it to social media influencers to market it, it booms for like two months and when another song is released, people forget about the old song.”
He however also stated that the musicians have failed to maximize the benefits of internet and social media.
However, Kasuku was all round negative about Ugandan music. He pointed out Joshua Baraka and he commented that he has great music though he has to be consistent.
Consistency, he said was one of the biggest hindrances to Ugandan musicians.
