Busoga United enhance survival hopes with win over Express FC

Express 1-2 Busoga United

Busoga United remained on course to staying in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after claiming a significant 2-1 victory over traditional giants, Express, in Sunday’s only game.

A quick first half brace from Pilsner Man of the Match, Emmanuel Ajo, had the visitors leading 2-0 inside 10 minutes at Wankulukuku before an Isaac Wagoina 50th minute penalty reduced the deficit for the hosts.

Ajo scored his first on eight minutes, converting Jeremy Matata’s ball before Isaac Doka crafted the second for the brace hero just two minutes later.

This was Busoga United’s second win in the last three matches, earning the relegation strugglers seven points from a possible nine.

In contrast, this was Express’ third straight defeat, their last win a 1-0 victory over URA on April 6.

Busoga’s only sixth win in 26 matches keeps them a place above relegation on 25 points, four more than UPDF, who occupy the final relegation spot.

Express are ninth on 32 points, 17 off the top and 11 above the drop. Both teams have just three matches to end the season.
