Anselm Besigye the son to former Uganda presidential candidate Kizza Besigye Kifeefe and the Executive Director of UNAIDS Winnie Byanyima was offered a fully-funded PHD scholarship in the Columbia University.
Winnie Byanyima posted on her X account;
“With offers of a fully-funded PhD programme from @UniofOxford @UofC and @Columbia @akbesigye has today accepted the offer from @Columbia.
Tough decision to say bye to beloved @UofC
& turn down Oxford.
All the best AKB. Proud Mum.”
One of her followers asked what exactly his PHD will focus on.
The proud mother replied:
” Anthropology. His research will be on the East African Crude Oil Pipeline from Bunyoro all the way to Tanga port in Tanzania!”
Columbia University is one of the ivy league in New York city. It was established 1754 as King’s College on the grounds of Trinity Church in Manhattan, it is the oldest institution of higher education in New York and the fifth-oldest in the United States.
Ugandans have criticized Anselm saying that he only got the PHD based on his privilege and sexual identity.
However, other have come out to confess that Anselm Besigye is indeed a big brain.
