Kitende beat Amus on penalties to set up final date with Kitovu

St.Henry’s College Kitovu (SHACK) cruised to the 2023 National Schools Football Championship Final after beating Mityana based Royal Giant High School in the Semifinal on Friday.

SHACK need a shootout to prevail to the final after both sides had played out to a 1-1 stalemate in normal time at Nyakasura playground.

In the tense penalty shootout, SHACK won 6-5 to advance to their first ever national final.

Isa Bugembe gave the Mityana based school an early lead before Godfrey Ssekabengo levelled matters for SHACK in the second half.

Royal Giant were one kick away from advancing to the final after custodian Shamran Kamya had saved Khalid Abubakar’s penalty but their starman Bugembe failed to the task when he sent his effort wide.

After Bugembe’s miss, Collins Ntale scored his kick with Royal Giants’ Isaac Apenyu missing.

SHACK will now face off with St.Mary’s Kitende in the final on Saturday whom they beat 2-1 in the group stage.

Kitende overcame Amus College School 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate in normal time.
