CAF WCL Zonal Qualifiers: She Corporate, Simba Queens off to perfect starts

It was a good day out for Uganda FUFA Women Super League Champions She Corporate Football Club and Tanzania Simba Queens Football Club as they put six(6) past their respective opponents with no reply.

She Corporate Football Club opened up the day as they played first facing South Sudanese side Yei Joint Stars at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Sharks thumped the side closing the first stanza with three goals including one from their new signing Anita Namata who scored in the 33rd minute something that gave confidence to the girls.

But before her goal, the Most Valuable Player of the 2021/2022 campaign Phiona Nabbumba had already put She Corporates ahead with just 27 minutes into the game.

With two minutes of added time in the first half, Margret Namirimu sealed the win to shut down any chance of the South Sudanese to come back into the game.

In the second half, Nabbumba came and doubled her goal tally, putting the ball in the back of the net seven (7) minutes after the restart.  Thereafter her goal, it was a possession managed game with the Sharks being on top till they got their other goals later on in the game.

The last two goals were scored by their top scorer last season Nambatya Favour and new signing Joan Ainembabazi in the 72nd and 86th minutes respectively.

In the other group B game, Simba Queens of Tanzania run riot on Garde Republic from Djibouti thrashing them 6-0 just like She Corporate FC.

The Simba Queens goals came in from Pambani Kuzoya who opened the scoring in the 30th minute. Two minutes later, Olaiya Barakat doubled the goals and Asha Djafar sealed it off with two minutes left on the clock.

In the second half, both Ashar Djafar and Olaiya added a goal to their names to put up a brace in the 68th and 80th minute only to make it six (6) after Joelle Bukuru added her name to the scoresheet after putting away her 51st minute chance.

Therefore with both the winning group B teams equaling on goal difference and not conceding, She Corporate Football Club lead the Log in alphabetical and Simba Queens come in second.

The Sharks will play the hosts, Simba Queens in their next fixture on Wednesday 17th August at the Azam Complex as Yei Joint Stars will take on Garde Republic Football Club.

But before Wednesday, on Monday Group A teams will be in action as Commercial Bank of Ethiopia will take on Warriors at 4pm and later on Fofilla will take on As Kigali Women Football Club.
